Routes & Itinerary

Note, these are example itineraries. Drive Experience Tasmania offers a host of routes which can be discussed with each group

Day 1

Day 1 always starts from our HQ in Kingston, Tasmania.

From here we encourage guests to get used to the cars as we travel the winding roads further south of Hobart towards the Huon and channel.

Around lunch time you’re likely to have driven the pinnacle road to Mt Wellington where you’ll bask in the views before traversing back down in time for some early afternoon Go Karting.

You’ll then take an interesting route through some great back roads, then you’ll finally navigate your way up the East Coast, until you hit your final rest stop for the day.

By now, it’ll be time for a well-earned drink and dinner.

Day 2

For day 2 we have a choice of a “standard” and “long” route, depending on your tastes. Both are amazingly scenic, our standard route takes you back down south, but this time towards and around the stunning Tasman Peninsula.

Views over Eagle Hawk Neck are breathtaking and it’s here we cover a well-known hill climb route before more quiet back roads over rolling countryside.

We’ll take in all the natural attractions like the Blowhole, Devils Kitchen, the Tessellated Pavement, as well as a quick tour of Port Arthur if you have opted for a stop there.

In the afternoon you’ll take the scenic route back through towards our HQ.

For the “long” route we start the morning by heading north rather than heading south from Little Swanport. This route takes us up and around to Freycinet where we have many adventurous options for activities and stop offs – this part of Tas has some stunning wineries. Quad biking, paintball, sea kayaking and some of Australia’s best short bush walks are all found here.

This route is the more scenic with an amazing destination – Freycinet and Wineglass Bay.

If you are undecided on which route is best for your 2 day trip, then reach out to us.

If you would prefer a 3 day trip, then Freycinet (including a trip up to the stunning Bicheno) works very well as a day 2, with the more compact southern loop being a great day 3 before flying out.
